crimson, gold. fleeting beauty and northern lights. crunching footsteps. dancing with, breathing in sunlight through the leaves. senses ruffled, filled with wonder.
anticipation, and lightly mourning summer.
Each layer of wax and fabric dye offers up new effects and surprises. This piece reminds me of the February sunshine that flooded our living room two homes ago. We would bask in it after a bath. The little one has a treble clef in her ear. This eludes to the songs she hears every day and night, the songs and love that will become a melodious thread in the fabric of her life.
The piece in progress almost looks like the mother is holding her pregnant belly, waiting. Seems like it's always the case with children, wondering what the future holds, who they will be... while the trick is to enjoy the moment.
